Abstract

This research aims to determine how the participation of migrants (workers) who work outside of the region to agricultural development in the origin region. The method used is a survey approach to the actors and migrant families in the origin region. Rapid rural appraisal (RRA) and indept interview approach, will be done as a step to get information from keyperson. Initial activities undertaken in this research is to conduct an initial survey in origin region of migrants to obtain data on the potential and conditions of migrants. Based on these data then reduced and analyzed the pattern of migrant participation to agricultural development in the origin region. Results on the fields show the involvement of migrants (including migrant families) was instrumental to the improvement of agricultural development in the origin region, especially in the agricultural sector. In addition to remittances, the role of personal can provide enrichment on the form or model of participatory migrants to agricultural development in origin region. In addition to remittances, the role of community figure in the area of origin also affects the participation of migrants.
