In Islam, marriage is deed that recommended by Prophet SAW. It’s such a holy, sacral agreement which must be kept as well as possible by a couple. This Research examines about sociological background the go down causing (Asbabun Nuzul) of polygamy verse, idea of Islam Community Liberal about polygamy. This Research is included in type of bibliography research (library research). Data collecting method that used in research this is the documentation method—with searching data about polygamy from several books related with polygamy and in website www.islamlib.com. This research get conclusion that sociological background of go down causing QS. an- Nisa’: 3, about polygamy is post Uhud War—in which a lot of Moslem combatant were killed, which result so many orphan that need surveillance and responsible parents. The descent of verse is also as demarcation of woman amount which allow be married, because Arabian accustomed taking unlimited nuptials. The Islam Community Liberal (ISLIB) viewed that polygamy intrinsically is not admissible; they relied on Fatimah Case when she will be treated in polygamy by Ali bin Abi Thalib. Even the prophet devoted monogamy than polygamy. Monogamy is conducted by him in the societies that assume polygamy is proper. The household of the prophet with his single wife—Khadijah binti Khuwalid RA—last out about 28 years. Then two years later after Khadijah had passed away the prophet took polygamy. Yet it occurred about 8 years from his life rest. The allowance of polygamy—according to Islam Community Liberal (ISLIB)—if it’s related with fact that a lot of widow, orphan and slaves. They don’t tolerate the men who take polygamy with the prettier, younger and more interesting women or others.
