Abstract

In late 2012, the Indonesian people were surprised with the news of short term marriage by a regent in West Java. The regent divorced her after 4 days of marriage. “Sighat” divorce, addressed to his wife was sent through short message through mobile phone. According to this version of regent, with “Sighat” talaq through short message, he has a legitimate divorce of his wife. This paper attempts to analyze under the perspective of the Legal Affairs Board divorce outside the court performed by that regent.
