    Abstract
Numerical method is a method that has a very strategic role in mathematics. It can be used to solve the problem solution of a nonlinear equation, a large system of equations, and other issues included in the technical and social. Problems that are difficult or even impossible to solve analytically can be solved by numerical method. The solution to solve the problems on the course of Numerical Method is the application of Maple-based IDEAL Problem Solving learning. This study aims to produce a valid learning device and determine the effectiveness of the implementation Maple-based IDEAL Problem Solving learning model of Numerical Method course. Development of the device in this study using the 4D model is simplified into 3-D (define, design, develop) based on the theory Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel. The results showed that (1) Development of learning tools with the Maple-based IDEAL Problem Solving learning of Numerical Method course is valid. (2) Implementation of the Maple-based IDEAL Problem Solving learning of Numerical Method course is effective. Effectiveness is characterized by (a) problem-solving abilities achieved mastery, (b) there are significant activeness and motivation towards problem solving capabilities significantly (c) problem solving skills got better after having treatment than before. Based on this research, the lecturer should be able to apply the Maple-based IDEAL Problem Solving learning to enhance the activity, motivation and problem solving skills.
