Ahmad Muhammadiyah cares very much toward the pull poverty
out that has been shown since it stood. This is the consequence
from Ahmad Dahlan’s belief that Al-Qur’an is not merely to be learnt
by heart but it must be applied in the daily activities. The verse of Al-
Maa-uun in the Al- Qur’an inspires that we should be on the side of
those who are weak, exploited, underdeveloped, and poor. The way
of thinking and the way to do that were developed by Ahmad Dahlan
needs to be restudy to get a renewal social and cultural ethos which is
relevant to the global development. The redefinition of the meaning
must be done by the activists of the institution to make Muhammadiyah
remain existed in this more and more complex era.

The students’ religious mature has positive influence toward the
preparation for marriage. This is proved on the result of the research
that the samples are the students of Hajjah Nuriyah Shabran Boarding
School of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. They believe that getting
married is not a matter of social contract, but it must be based on the
belief and piety. Getting married is a sacred thing; its purpose is to exercise
a religious service before Allah Almighty. Right and duty of the spouse
must be maintained and it can only be done by those who have religious
mature. It is why that a divorce is something that is permissible but it is
hated by Allah because the divorce brings about consequence. A person
who is always obedient in the religion that is marked by the firm belief,
the right worship, and good morals, will not be easy for him to fall talaq
( separation) to his wife without any religious reason that permits it.

Muhammadiyah has a strategic position to participate in taking
care of keeping the living environment, why? Because Muhammadiyah is
as religious institution that not only encourages people to exercise the
Islamic teachings according to the Al-Qur’an and the Sunnah but also
makes the society aware, through its missionary endeavor, to love universe.
Muhammadiyah contribution can be in the form of (1) the making
laws or policies in the environment fields, (2) taking part in every activity
in managing the environment, and (3) environment advocation. Apart
from those Muhammadiyah can also create environment ethichs that can
be socialized by preachers to general public, the rulers, and the environment
executive. The damage of the environment that causes flood, slide of
lands, air and sea pollution is because of the irresponsible people. They do
so for their own temporary sake without considering the emerged result.

As Islamic missionary endeavor and reform, Muhammadiyah always
evaluates its steps in missionary endeavor. The birth of cultural
missionary endeavor concept that has been emerged in Tanwir Meeting
in Bali, January 2002 and it was decided as the official decision in the
Tanwir Meeting in Ujung Pandang, June, 2003 is one of the concrete
forms in the efforts of the renewal steps in Muhammadiyah missionary
endeavor. But controversy cannot be hindered because it looks as if
Muhammadiyah cultural missionary endeavor became accommodative
toward TBC (superstition, heresy, and myth) that attach on most local
cultures. This article intends to (1) dig the right meaning of the cultural
missionary endeavor terminology, (2) give direction that every renewal
effort and the perfection of the steps in Muhammadiyah missionary endeavor
must be in the frame of tabsyir, islah , and tajdid , and (3) by the
right understanding, make up the concrete steps in developing missionary
endeavor network that is based on Al-Qur’an and the Sunnah.
