In KalimantanIsland as other islands in Indonesia, there are located peat land or peaty land. One of the nature of peat
land is that peat land has a very low bearing capacity. Therefore if civil structures such as a highway, dam, railway,
airport and seaport, and buildings built on them, then the peat land must be improved or stabilized to increase the
technical properties of the peat land.
To increase the technical properties the peat land can be stabilized by adding additive namely clean set cement type
CS-60. 5%, 10% and 15%. Curing time varied from 1 day, 3 days, 7 days. There are two variables that must be tested
namely inner shear and cohesion. Those variables are tested through Direct Shear and UU Triaxial Tests.
From those tested it was found very high water content (w), low weight of volume (γ), low specific gravity (Gs).
Based on USCS Classification, the peat land is classified as peat land with high organic content namely as A-8 group
in AASHTO chart. Also it was found that there were a significant increase in direct shear and triaxial for peat land
mixed with clean set cement CS-60 type.

Wheels of vehicles at surface of pavement will pass through it lot of times. Therefore, pavement or base course over
soft soil always needs reinforcement. Inclusion of geosyntheticsinto base-course as basally reinforcement and
influence of a repeated loading are presented. Several existing methods such as Giroud-Han, USA Corps of Engineers
and DuPont Typar method to calculate thickness of base course over soft soil using reinforcement material either
geotextile or geogrid are presented and the influence of a repeated load will be compared. Results from calculation and
analysis indicate that Giroud-Han method gives thickness of base course higher than other methods when CBR values
of subgrade at least 2 %.

Soil embankment dams have been built surrounding the Lusi Mud Volcano in Sidoarjo, East Java, to keep hot mud
within the ponds since May 2006. The dams have been made of soil materials sitting on poor weak grounds. A finite
element method (FEM) was applied for modelling the displacements of the embankment dams. Results show that the
dam displacements in both vertical and horizontal directions were high in static and dynamic state conditions. The
final design of the dams had a total displacement of about 1.3-1.9 m in both static- and dynamic-state conditions.

Piling on building projects in urban or densely populated areas is done by a jack-in system by using a jack-in pile type
hydraulic static pile driver to be free of noise, vibration and pollution. In residential area, it should be used jack-in pile
to minimize disturbance to the environment because it does not cause vibration and noise compared other piling tool.
Globalization which is happening in the construction bussines requires its main actors are in an invironment of
increased competiton so it have to used a competitive piling tool. Construction of deep foundation have an very
complex structure, one type of tool that is often used stake is Jack-in Pile. That is piling system which implementation
is pressed into the ground using hydraulic jack. The analysis conducted with how long piling activity takes time at one
point piling. It is showed the ranking of each activity at one point piling and the mobilization activity need 3 hours and
48 minutes.
