ON THE EXTREME POSITION OF PROPAGATION OF BICHROMATIC WAVE IN HYDRODYNAMIC LABORATORY
Marwan
This paper concerns with the down-stream propagation of waves over initially still water. Such study is relevant to generate waves of large amplitude in wave tanks of a hydrodynamic laboratory. Input in the form of a time signal is provided at the wave-maker located at one side of the wave tank; the resulting wave then propagates over initially still water towards the beach at the other side of the tank. Experiments show that nonlinear effects will deform the wave and may lead to large waves with wave heights larger than twice the original input; the deformations may show it as peaking and splitting. It is of direct scientific interest to understand and quantify the nonlinear distortion; it is also of much practical interest to know at which location in the wave tank, the extreme position, the waves will achieve their maximum amplitude and to know the amplitude amplification factor. To investigate this, a previously introduced concept called Maximal Temporal Amplitude (MTA) is used: at each location the maximum over time of the wave elevation. An explicit expression of the MTA cannot be found in general from the governing equations and generating signal. The model is used in this paper is a Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) model and third order approximation theory to calculate the approximate extreme positions for a class of wave. This class is the wave-groups that originate from initially bi-chromatics type of wave, described by superposition of two monochromatic waves. It is shown that, the extreme position depends on the amplitude and the wave length of the group. The theoretical results are verified with numerical as well as experimental results for comparison.

The Characteristic of Critical Flow on Sluice Gate
Klaas, Dua K.S.Y.
The objective of this research is to analyse and to determine based on experiment relation among outlet depth of sluice gate, a, downstream, h2 and upstream depths, h1 as well as to determine the length of eddy phenomenon, Ld counted form sluice gate and its relation with discharge, Q. The research was conducted in Hydraulics Engineering Laboratory using several apparatus provided ini in State Polytechnics Kupang. Generally speaking, correlation among all variables used and analysed in this experiment had significant relationship, except between h0 and Q for a = 0,20 cm (R2=0.090), a = 0,50 cm (R2=0.436), h2 and Q for a = 0,20 cm (R2=0.046) and a = 0,40 cm (R2=0.289). the relatively small correlation value can be introduced by human or devices error during experiment. On the other hand, the highest correlation value was found between Ld and Q for a = 0,30 cm (R2=0.988). Curve shows that Q is in line with other three variables, namely Ld, h0, h1 and h2. Hence, the bigger the discharge, Q, the bigger Ld, h0, h1 and h2. By using upstream depth, h1 critical flow coefficient, ccr can be determined. In addition, critical depth, hcr lenght of eddies, Ld can be determined.

THE PREDICTION OF LONG -TERM SHRINKAGE OF LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE CONSIDERED TO MAGNITUDE OF SHORT - TERM SHRINKAGE
Kristiawan, SA; Sangadji, Senot
The magnitude of long-term shrinkage of lightweight concrete has to be considered in the design of lightweight concrete structure. This research is intended to develop a model for predicting the maginitude of long-term shrinkage of lightweight concrete based on the short-term value. Model of ACI 209 R-92 is used as a reference to start with and then it is verified and modified with the results of more than 9 months shrinkage observation on samples of lightweight concrete having various degrees of saturation of Artificial Lightweight Aggregate (ALWA), water/cement ratios, volume/surface ratios and curing period. The final model may be applied to predict long-term shrinkage of lightweight concrete using data from the observation of shrinkage for 28 days only. Coefficient error of prediction is about 30%

THE NEED OF EVALUATION AND ESTABLISHING PRICE OF REGULAR BUS SURAKARTA-YOYAKARTA
S., Suwardi
Surakarta is the trading city, While Yogyakarta is students and culture city. One of the supporting factors for smoothing the relation of both cities is through public tranportation bus Surakarta-Yogyakarta. Nowadays, It needs evaluation and solution. The aim of the research is to analysis the price and operational budget of this public transportation. So that, both of the users and bus owner get the benificial. The research benefits are for government input, users and bus owner, so that the public transportation can develop rapidly. The research method is descriptive analysis. The research result are; The field price is Rp 9000,- The average passangers is 27 within load factor 49%, headway 4 minutes, 20 seconds. The price based on operational budget of bus in the field is Rp 9826. The analyzing result after doing improvement is the average passangers is 40 within load factor 74%, headway is 6 minutes, 30 seconds, analysis price based on bus budget operational is Rp 6605,-. After improving analysis and integrated management system passangers is 40 within load factor 74 %, headway 6 minutes 30 seconds, the price is Rp 6346,-
