dc.description.abstractFinancial literacy is a basic and important requirement for individual to be able to make financial planning, managing personal finance and make appropriate financial decisions including lecturers at the Faculty of Economics and Business University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara. This study aims to determine how the level of financial literacy of lecturers at Faculty of Economics and Business UMSU based on gender, age, monthly income and expenditure per month. This type of research is explanatory research and quantitative descriptive. The population is 94 permanent lecturers who teach at the Faculty of Economics and Business UMSU, using saturated samples means the entire population is the sample of this study. Data analysis techniques used descriptive analysis assisted by SPSS software. The results of the study prove that lecturers of Faculty of Economics and Business UMSU have a low level of financial literacy (below 60%). Female lecturers have a low level of financial literacy compared to male lecturers, a group of young lecturers with an age range of 23-35 years as a group of lecturers with the lowest level of financial literacy, a group of lecturers with income and expenditure levels in the category between IDR 1,000,000 to Rp.5,000,000, - as the group with the lowest literacy level. Financial awareness and education is the most appropriate solution to overcome low financial literacy levels.id_ID
