Sociolinguistics Analysis of Taboo Language in Internet Meme

Abstract

The study aims to describe the types and the function of taboo language in internet meme. The object of this study is taboo language in internet meme. This research belongs to descriptive qualitative research. In analyzing the types of taboo language the writer used theory from Jay (1999: 225) and analyzing the function of taboo language in internet meme the writer use theory from Wardaugh (2005: 239). The result of the research found that swear word is mostly used in internet meme, and to mock the authority is the mostly use in internet meme.
