    Abstract
The previous study result showed that soil from Tanon Sragen is categorized as water-sensitive inorganic clay which has high plasticity index and contain montmorillonite mineral dominantly. This kind of soil is not reliable for construction foundation. .Therefore, its physic and mechanic characteristic should be improved using stabilization method in order to make the soil more reliable for construction foundation. The method of improvement is conducted by mixing the soil with stabilization material by adding tras percentage, i.e. 0%; 2,5%; 5%; 7,5%; and 10%, with 3-days treatment. Changes in physic and mechanic characteristics of mixed soil and tras can be seen by conducting consistency limit test, gradation test, specific gravity test, and unconsolidated-undrained (UU) triaxial test. The result shows that tras adding with 3-days treatment can improve the soil physic and mechanic characteristic, such as reduce soil plasticity, increase value, and reduce soil cohesiveness value (c).
