dc.description.abstract | One of the English studying problems in Elementary school is that students still
face the difficulty of understanding their English subject. The students feel difficult to
memorize the words given by the teacher. Moreover the method used, explanation,
makes them bored. The activity of this social service was presentation. It was held at
Language Center-UMS, and focused on Elementary school teacher of Gugus (group)
6 in kalurahan Pajang, kecamatan Layewan, Surakarta. This Gugus copes 8
Elementary schools. Some of the participants were from English department, Mathematics,
and students of Teaching English to Young Learners in UMS. Role play method
is one of the methods in teaching learning process to make the students easier to
grasp the material given by the teacher. This is a joyful method for teacher and students.
It also uses many kinds of model with the provided facility. Role play method gives a
chance for the students to practice their speaking ability in the different social and
functional backgrounds. In the social background, students can act as what they are
or as were other people, like a seller, a buyer, a teacher etc. In the functional background,
students can act as if they were in a restaurant, in a supermarket, in a hospital, etc. | en_US |
