    Abstract
Road construction that was built on expansive clay is likely to be damaged before reaching planned time limit, for examples: cracking, upheaval and settlement. It relates to CBR value. One of expansive clay’s improvement that its bearing capacity influenced by water content is lime stabilization. Sometimes, the compaction of soil–lime stabilization is limited by wet soil quarry condition or rainy that cause water content is greater than optimum moisture content (OMC) on compaction test. This research is designed to observe CBR value of the soil-lime stabilization in the wet side compaction. The method is mixing the former clay from Gading – Gunung Kidul with 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10% of lime from its dry weight. To observe the physical and mechanical properties changing of soil-lime stabilization, gradation test, specific gravity test, Atterberg limits test, compaction test and CBR test are done. CBR test is designed in 3 days curing in the optimum and wet side conditions, CBR test is also designed in 4 days soaking. The result shows the soil is anorganic clay with high plasticity or CH in USCS. In AASHTO, the soil is classified in A-7-6. Lime stabilization with 3 days curing can improve physical and mechanical properties of soil. It can decrease plasticity index of soil, increase shear strength parameter, increase CBR value and decrease swelling potential value. The CBR value of the former soil and the mixed soil-lime in the wet side compaction are smaller than the ones in the optimum condition, especially for the former soil. The CBR value of the mixed soil-lime in the wet side compaction is nearly same in the optimum compaction. The swelling goes down as the lime adding in the wet side compaction.
