dc.description.abstractAcute respiratory disstres syndrome (ARDS) merupakan kondisi yang mengancam jiwa yang ditandai dengan hipoksemia berat akibat kegagalan pertukaran gas dan kasus paling banyak yang menempati ICU. Penanganan kasus ARDS bisa dilakukan dengan terapi ventilasi konvensional. Namun, beberapa kasus tidak dapat ditangani hanya dengn menggunakan ventilasi mekanik. Akibnya pasien akan mengalami kegagalan napas walaupun sudah menggunakan teapi ventilasi. Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) merupakan pilihan yang dapat digunakan saat ventilasi mekanik konvensional tidak dapat menangani ARDS. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian literatur review yang membahas 5 kasus yang berkaitan dengan penggunaan ECMO pada pasien ARDS diruang ICU. Kesimpulan dari kasus tersebut adalah keberhasilan ECMO pada berbagai penyakit yang disertai dengan ARDS parah. Penggunaan VV ECMO dapat menyediakan dukungan paru yang cukup ketika petukaran gas sangat terganggu dan dapat menjadi pilihan terakhir saat terjadi kasus yang bermasalah.id_ID
