dc.description.abstract | Belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) contains akaloids and saponins, which possess larvacidal
properties. This study was aimed to find out the effectiveness of Averrhoa bilimbi L. juice to kill Anopheles
aconitus instar III larvae. It was an experimental study with post-test-only-with-control-group design, in which
the subjects were divided into two groups, i.e. a treatment and control groups. Each treatment as well as
control group consisted of 25 mosquito larvae, and the treatments were given in quadruplicate. The death
rates of larvae treated with 2.0%, 2,5%, 3,0%, 3,5%, 4,0%, 4,5%, and 5% of Averrhoa bilimbi L. juice were
71%, 79%, 84%, 92%, 96%, 100% and 100%. Kruskall-Wallis analysis to the data revealed that there was
significant influence between the treatment and the larvae death at the dose 4,5%, with p=0,000 < α = 0,01. | en_US |
