dc.description.abstract | The objective of this study is to evaluate of Ring Road Development seen from the behavior of passenger car in
Surakarta in choosing between north ring road and arteries route with logit binomial model. The dependent variable
needed are journey time and cost. Data were taken by recording the number of vehicle and journey time on Monday,
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday started at 06.00 am – 18.00 pm. Then, data were analyzed to find the correlation
among the proportion of route choice, headway, and journey cost with regression in three traffic flow: west to east, east
to west, and both. The study concluded that the passenger car from west to east traffic in peak hours tends to choose ring
road, while from east to west traffic in peak hours of afternoon tends to choose arteries road because of some reasons
namely any necessity in city, landscape factor, and geometric intersection. The car passengers of Surakarta vehicle
number on Saturday in peak hours tend to choose ring road, and choose artery road in off-peak hours. The car
passengers of non-Surakarta vehicle number on Saturday in both peak hours and off-peak hours tend to choose artery
road because some reasons i.e. there is no delay, time is not priority, and there is chance to see city. The representative
logit binomial by choosing journey time and operational vehicle cost variables is model while route probability of route A
or ring road at headway and journey cost is zero. The existence of north ring road is highly needed and traffic average
speed in ring road should be increased. It is recommended that the plan and design of corridors of north ring road are
needed in order to reach the aim of the development of ring road as speed traffic with average speed fitting with the
speed design of ring road. The unique buildings and environments as Surakarta’s characteristic should be maintained
and spots of bad services are removed. | en_US |
