dc.description.abstract | Ceplukan plant (Physalis angulata Linn.) has cytotoxic effect in some human cancer line cells in vitro among
others HA22T (hepatoma), HeLa (cervixal cancer), KB (Nasopharingeal cancer), Colo 205 (colon) dan Calu
(lung cancer). The aim of the research is to investigate cytotoxic activity of the ethanol extract of Physalis
angulata Linn. on breast cancer cell MCF-7. Test of cytotoxic effect of the ethanol extract of P. angulata Linn.
was done by direct counting method with triphan blue staining. Positive control was used by tamoxiphene. The
cytotoxic activity was calculated based on inhibitory of the ethanol extract of P. angulata Linn. and
tamoxiphene on breast cancer cell MCF-7. The cytotoxic activity was expressed by IC50 (Inhibitory
concentration fifty). The defference of IC50 of the ethanol extract of P. angulata Linn. from tamoxiphene were
analyzed by ANOVA test followed LSD test. The results of this research show that the ethanol extract of P.
angulata Linn. has cytotoxic activity with IC50 29,2 ±1,3 µg/mL, while IC50 of tamoxiphene is 4,5 ± 0,74 µg/mL.
The IC50 of the ethanol extract of P. angulata Linn. is significantly lower (P< 0.05) tha IC50 of tamoxiphene. | en_US |
