dc.description.abstract | Behavior disorder, internal or external behavior, faced on many elementary
students and influence on cognitive, emotional, and social aspects. Many factors involve
in behavior disorder, one of them is parents-child relation patern, especially mother-child
relation patern. Maladaptive mother-child relation patern will increase the probability to
face many psychological disorders, and one type of maladaptive mother-child relation
patern is high expressed emotion of mother when interact with their child. The high
expressed emotion manifested in critical comments, hostility, and emotional over
involvement to the child.
The aim of this research is to examine empirically the relationship between
behavior disorder of elementary students and mother’s expressed emotion. Subjects are
369 elementary students grade 4, 5, and 6, from SDIT Al-Kautsar dan SD Muhammadiyah
16 Karangasem. Data analysed with Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test.
The result show that there is significant relationship between behavior disorder of
elementary students and mother’s expressed emotion, shown in Z score = -16.205,
p<0.01. This result support many prior researches result, higher mother’s expressed
emotion in mother-child interaction significantly related with the higher probability of the
psychological disorders and relapsion of the disorders. | en_US |
