MENGAPA SAYA MENYUSUI EKSKLUSIF? STUDI EKSPLORASI TERHADAP FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMENGARUHI PEMBERIAN ASI EKSKLUSIF

Abstract

Breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding become important topics in our community in many recent years. The fact, the percentage of Indonesian mother who give their baby with exclusive breastfeeding is lower than others country’s mother, even in ASEAN. Many factors influence in how this decision take by mother and knowledge about these factors will be so important in the effort to enhance the number of Indonesian mother who give exclusive breastfeeding to their baby. The aim of this research is to find many factors which influence mother in their decision about exclusive breastfeeding. Subjects are 44 mothers with 0-12 months baby and live in Klaten. Subjects asked to answer many questions in questionnaire and interview process. The data analized qualitatively. The result of this research shown, there are many factors that influence in how this decision about excluisve breastfeeding take by mothers: mother’s knowledge about breastfeeding, support from husband and many family members, and employment status of mothers. If barriers come mothers tends to ask to medical helper and mother to help them. Mothers perceive that support from husband is so important in many ways: how husband available to share many housework, to be a partner in sharing ideas, and accompany mother in breastfeeding process. Many social support sources needed by mothers are mother, sibling, mother inlaw, doctor, and friend.
