dc.description.abstractSarang Semut (Myrmecodia pendans) is one of the traditional plant that used to treat various diseases. Myrmecodia pendans shown to contain chemical compounds of the flavonoid and tanin. These compounds are known to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. This study aims to examine the inhibition of ethanolic extract of sarang semut toward cell proliferation of human tongue cancer cell lines (SP-C1). This study used SP-C1 cell was divided into two groups. The first group as negative control, second group as treatment with ethanolic extract of sarang semut at various concentrations. Ethanolic extract of sarang semut (Myrmecodia pendans) used were (0;100;200;300;400;500;600;700;800;900; dan 1000µg/ml) with exposure time 24 hours incubation. The inhibition test was conducted using MTT assay. The result showed that ethanolic extract of sarang semut could suppress the proliferation of SP-C1 cell and the highest potency of proliferation inhibition of sarang semut was occured at 1000 µg /ml which inhibit 74,6 % of SP-C1 cell proliferation in 24 hours. Ethanolic extract of sarang semut could inhibit the cell proliferation of human oral tongue cancer cell (SP-C1).en_US
