Pengaruh Kangaroo Mother Care ( KMC ) Dua Jam dan Empat Jam Per Hari terhadap Kenaikan Berat Badan Lahir Rendah Bayi Preterm di RS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta

Abstract

The method of kangaroo mother care ( KMC ) or skin-to-skin contact has effectively improve the weight gain and prevent the cold stress; however, what the most effective time to do the KMC is not clear. Aims: To compare the effect of KMC two hours per day and KMC four hours per day on the weight gain of the preterm infant. Study Design and Sample. Fourteen mother-infant hospitalized in Muhammadiyah Hospital in Surakarta, Indonesia were randomly assigned to the two hours KMC per day group or the four hours KMC per day group. The first group undertook the KMC two hours a day, during seven days a week two weeks. The second group undertook the KMC four hours a day, during seven days a week. The infant weight was weighed every day during 2 weeks. Result. During 2 weeks observation, the preterm infant with 2 hours of KMC increase slowly, approximately 32.14 grams for 2 weeks, on the other hand the preterm infant with 4 hours of KMC rise rapidly around 167.86 grams for 2 weeks. Conclusions. The Lenght of KMC implementing influence weight gain of preterm infant. KMC 4 hours per day more effective than KMC 2 hours per day.
