PENGARUH TERAPI BACK MASSAGE TERHADAP INTENSITAS NYERI REUMATIK PADA LANSIA DI WILAYAH PUSKEMAS PEMBANTU KARANG ASEM

Abstract

One of the most illnesses suffered by elderly is pain. Rheumatic is pain at the bone part is known by the society. The characteristics of rheumatic are systemic, progressive, tend to chronic, and symmetries at the joint ligament. The purpose of back message theraphy is to reduce pain by releasing endorfin hormon. At the previous studies result data that old ages who have rheumatic they suffer waist and food rigid, joint and muscles pain. It happens when they have done to do some heavy activities or after wake up in the morning. The objective of research is to know the effect of back massage Theraphy regarding to rheumatic pain intensity of elderly at public healthy center in karang Asem Pajang of Surakarta. The method of research is pre-experimental research using one-group-posttest approach. The samples of this research are 13 elderly who have medium pain intensity or the pain scale is 4-6 point. Technique of taking sample is using purposive sampling. The method of collecting data is experiment method. Scale of degree pain tool uses numeric rating scale (AHCPR). Hypothesis research test uses non parametric Wicoxon Signed Ranks Test. The result of the research shows that before given back message, 5 respondents suffered light pain in1-3 point, scales. 8 respondents suffered medium pain at 4-6 scales. After given back message, only 2 respondents suffered medium pain and 11 respondents having light pain with the intensities of pain is 1-3 point. The result of the average pre-test of Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test is 4.00 and the average of post- test is 2.69. The result of Z score = -3.017 point with p-value = 0.003. It means that there is influence between back message therapy regarding decrease of rheumatic pain intensity at elderly at public health center in Karang Asem. The result of this research shows that back message therapy is effective to decrease pain at old ages. Hoped that medical expert can use back message for elderly so that they have no suffered illnesses at elderly.
