dc.description.abstract | The ISPA disease, especially to the children under 5 years old is a disease that belongs to the priority problem because it spreads or contagious easily so if it is not prevented or handled well, it will make a high dead rate among children under 5 years old. incident of Acute Respiratory Infection (ISPA) in Sukoharjo regency in 2006 reachs 52.674 children, while in Kartasura I public health center, ISPA always becomes the first rank although the number was fluctuates. Most of the sickness and dead of ISPA is caused by the mother’s lack of knowledge about ISPA itself, the prevention and the conduction. The aim of this research is to know the relationship between the knowledge level and the mother’s behavior in preventing ISPA with the incident of ISPA to children under 5 years old in Pucangan village, the Kartasura I public health center. This research is correlatif descriptive. The population are mothers who have a child under 5 years old in Pucangan village, the Kartasura I public health center. The are 874 mothers while the samples amount of this research are 90 mothers. The sample collecting method is by using the proportional random sampling. The data collecting method is by using quesionare which is given directly to the mother, then the data is analyzed by using the rank spearman test. The research result shows that the average amount of mothers knowledge about ISPA is enough (52,2%), the mothers behavior toward the ISPA prevention is enough (46,7%), and the ISPA event of children under 5 years old in Pucangan village is high (58,9%). From the correlation analysis result, there is a relationship between the mothers knowledge and the ISPA event of children under 5 years old with the correlation coefisien (rxy) is -0,387, in which that value is significant with the probability value is 0,000 (p<ά) in the significance rate of 5%. From the analysis result, there is a correlation between the behavior toward the prevention of ISPA with the ISPA event, the correlation coefisien is -0,339 in which that value is significant, with the probability value is 0,001 (p<ά) in the significance rate of 5%. It shows that the knowledge level and mothers behavior are able to influence the ISPA event of children under 5 years old. | en_US |
