Relics that have historical, architectural, or cultural values, have to be preserved and protected through conservation and restoration. In the case of stone-made buildings the likeliest problem is that any mistake or deviation within the restoration process will affect the architectural values, specially the form values (aesthetic). The purpose of this study is to obtain the best principles/techniques for the restoration of the stony temple. The restoration of temples as religious buildings has to match with some principles, which called ‘principles of restoration’. Restoration process usually consists of six steps. The most ‘be-affected’ aesthetic elements through such process of restoration are form, and composition. The research paradigm within the study is rationalistic. A qualitative research is done with a descriptive method. In this study, the first step is to describe the architecture of the case study, Candi Plaosan Lor. The second step is to describe and explain the main steps of restoration implementation process. The third step tries to produce a field observation of the restoration process results, then analyzing the restoration steps in order to know if the restoration implementation has an impact on the aesthetic values (form, and set up).The study findings point out that digging, trial set up, structure reinforcement, and reconstruction affect all studied aesthetic values of temple buildings while material treatment only affects form and set up (composition). In other hand, deconstruction is the step that does not affect any aesthetic values of temple building.en_US
