dc.description.abstractBackground: Delivery process is an unforgettable experience and an extraordinary event in the life of a woman to be a mother. Perception and acceptance of women to maternity process is strongly influenced by values, beliefs, and culture. Object of the research: Developing the concept of responses and coping of an expectant javanese women during normal delivery process. Methods: Design: This study used qualitative methods with a grounded theory approach. Participants: The numbers of participants in this qualitative research were 7 people. Sample: The sample selection was taken by using theoretical sampling. Instruments: Tools used in data collection from a grounded theory study were the researcher herself, field notes, audiotapes, videotapes and stationery. The draft data analysis used qualitative analysis. Results of the research: The significance of delivery process for mothers was happy, proud yet traumatic. Physical changes were felt by mothers during the opening process ch as soreness at the waist, stomach ache, swollen feet, and limp. Efforts were made to address the physical changes during the opening process such as taking a walk, bowed down/prostrate, taking a deep breath relaxation techniques. Physical changes were felt by mothers when deliver such as painful and relieved. Efforts were done to address the physical changes during delivery of a baby were detaining, adjusting the breath and straining. Illustration of mothers’ feelings in the process of opening was found four themes, namely happy, anxious, fearful and worry. Experience of delivery for mothers’ were considered as an enjoyable and traumatic experience. Mothers’ perception towards labor pain were normal, cannot be expressed and incredible pain. Mothers’ attitudes towards labor pain were relaxed, angry and resigned. Relaxed would reduce the labor pain. Mothers also did wreak the pain with rage or anger. The most desirable people to assist during delivery were husband and parents (mother). Husband was expected to assist because he was the closest person to the expectant mother and was expected to encourage her. Conclusion: Response and coping javanese women during the normal delivery influence by value and beliefs, and culture of javanese people. A Javanese woman receive role and responsibility as mother since being a mother is a very precious duty. In this circumstance, reproduction/ deliver birth with all its risks are also being a part of women’s lives and that have to be accepted and passed with all their sincere. Therefore, such condition creates Javanese women being stronger in dealing with any problems in terms of reproductive task.en_US
