    Abstract
    This research aims at answering whether values education is effective for increasing emotional quotient, and finding the difference of emotional quotient between control group and experiment group. The subjects of the study were selected purposively based the criteria of age, family life, willingness, and parents’ permission. The subjects selected had the following characteristics: (1) 10–12 years of age, (2) staying with parents, (3) willing to join the program, and (4) provided with permission statement from parents. The collected data were analyzed by using Wilcoxon’s sign test and Mann Whitney’s u-test. The result of the study indicated that values education increased the emotional quotient of the participants values education program (T = 26,000; and p < 0.05). The study also showed that there was no difference of influence on the children between values education and traditional program (Z = 1.212; p > 0.05).
