dc.description.abstractThis research aims at finding the relationship between diction mastery and semantic competence and reading comprehension ability, either separately or simultaneously. This research was conducted from March to July 2006. The population was the students of Elementary School Teacher Training Program, FKIP, Sebelas Maret University. The sample consisted of 46 students who were selected randomly. The data-collecting technique was document by using test achievement. The data-analyzing techniques were regression and correlation. The result of analysis showed that there was a positive correlation between diction mastery and semantic competence and reading comprehension ability, either separately or simultaneously.en_US
