Abstract
This studyaimed to describethe ability ofstudentsin paintingandunderstand thegeometry ofthe field on
thecoursecompetenciesin thecircleandoutside the triangleanddeterminethe causes ofthe
difficultiesexperienced bystudents. This research is aqualitativedescriptivestudy. Subjects werestudents
offirstsemester ofclassesA, B, Cclassmathematics educationFKIPUMS2014.The main data sourceis
derivedfromthe wordsand actions ofthe restisadditional datasuch asdocuments, dataandactionsof
studentswhowere interviewedas well as thecustodian ofthe fieldgeometrycourses.Data was collected
throughobservation, interviewsanddocumentation. Data validationis donebytriangulation,
namelytechniquesandsources. Data were analyzed usingqualitativedata analysis, namelydata reduction,
data presentation, and conclusion. The results showedthatstudentsdifficultyin understandingthe concept
ofgeometry, the difficulty of implementingthe concept, difficultto understandthe formula,
difficultydeterminingstepspainting, learningenvironmentfactorsandattitudesof students towards
subjects geometry field.
