    Abstract
Clay soil with high plasticity index, low load capacity, and very sensitive to the change of water content is technically not feasible for road construction base. Problem will occur if a road is constructed on such clay soil, for example, the road surface will be surged, broken and sloped down. The initial research showed that this type of soil was found along Tanon Sragen road, and the problem should be solved. One of the alternative solution is soil stabilisation using limestone to know the swelling potential and change of load capacity of that clay soil. The change of load capacity can be seen by doing California Bearing Ratio (CBR) and swelling potential test into the mixture of clay soil and limestone with limestone content 2,5% ; 5% ; 7,5% and 10%, and with treatment for 3 days and soaking for 4 days. Test result showed that adding limestone with treatment for 3 days and soaking for 4 days can increase load capacity and reduce swelling potential compared with the original clay soil.
