The banking industry is one of the financial sector contribute to the economic activity of a country.
Bank Syariah also part of the banking system which has a major role in promoting economic growth. The
study aims to determine the level of efficiency of Islamic Banks in Indonesia in 2013-2014 using Data
Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The measurement of efficiency using multi input and output is expected to
determine the performance comparison between Islamic Banks.An Islamic Banks are said to have an
efficient performance if it has a score of 1 or 100% efficiency and increasingly inefficient if it is close to 0.
The study used a sample of four Islamic Banks, Bank Mega Syariah, Bank Muamalat Indonesia, Bank BNI
Syariah and Bank Syariah Mandiri during the first quarter of 2013 to the fourth quarter of 2014. Input used
the total assets and other operational costs, while the output that is used is a total financing and operating
profit. The results of analysis using the DEA showed that only one bank that is efficient during the period
2013-2014, Bank Muamalat Indonesia. While the three other banks have not fully efficient. End of this
research is the suggestion for the banks that have not been efficient to pursue policies that can be used to
improve the quality of bank performance.
