dc.description.abstractThe objective of this research is 1) to perform the problem identification of increasing the learning quality for Social Sciences teacher candidates in FKIP-UMS. 2) to determine the model of quality improvement of effective learning for social sciences teacher candidates. The research approach, used in this study is the descriptive-qualitative by using the learningtraining method. The research subjects are the college students of geography education in FKIP-UMS. Data collecting methods are observation and interview. The data collected, then, are analyzed by applying first order understanding and second order understanding. The research results can be concluded as follows; 1) that the main problems of increasing the learning quality for social sciences teacher candidates in FKIP-UMS are internal problems and external problems. Which includes an internal problems is the multi media facility, the strategy of innovative learning. Whereas the included external problems is the lecturer's active role in conducting the as in service training and pre service training for the teacher candidates. 2) the model of quality improvement of effective learning for social sciences teacher candidates, by using "lesson study modification" approach, based Improvement Model of Quality of CoOperative, Improvement Model of Quality Based on Problem, and Improvement Model of Quality of Direct.in_ID
