Peran Tokoh Masyarakat dalam Penguatan Lumbung Pangan Masyarakat Desa

Abstract

This research aims to analyse the role of the community in Strengthening „Lumbung Pangan Masyarakat Desa‟. „Lumbung Pangan Masyarakat Desa‟ is a village institution which can be utilized by farmers to improve their welfare and existence. However, in the process of strengthening it, the role of existing stakeholders (academics, community leaders, government and businessmen) is much needed. The method used in this research are the focus group discussions (FGD) technique and in-depth interview, as well as quantitative analysis in order to achieve the research‟s expected results. The activities carried out in this research is conducting an initial survey in the sample area to obtain preliminary data on the characteristics and condition of food security in the research area; as well as mapping the potential and the role of „Lumbung Pangan Masyarakat Desa‟ in community empowerment. Afterwards, conducting the research and analysis based on the initial survey findings. The results showed that the role of stakeholders (A-B-G-C) was instrumental in strengthening farmers‟ institutional (in this case the „Lumbung Pangan Masyarakat Desa‟), particularly the role of community leaders. Besides the aspects of economic and social also decisive in strengthening the institution. It then became the justification for formulating the form of empowerment for farmers and farmer groups through „Lumbung Pangan Masyarakat Desa‟. In addition, the empowerment model is expected to be the social engine for the farmers and institutions in rural areas, especially in realizing the achievement of food security.
