Cervical cancer is the second most types of cancer in women that causes more than 250,000 deaths in 2005 in which approximately 80% of these deaths occur in developing countries. The direct cause of cervical cancer is unknown, but there are several factors that affect the incidence of cervical cancer among women who first coitus at a very young age, low socioeconomic factors, poor sexual hygiene and sexual activity are frequently changing partners. One of the early detection of cervical cancer is by means of inspection Visual Inspection Acetic Acid (VIA). The program checking Visual Inspection Acetic Acid (VIA) has been a government program, and it has many obstacles. One of them is the consciousness of the married women of childbearing age (WUS) for the prevention of cervical cancer, because WUS awareness is still low. The purpose of this study is to describe the consciousness (self awareness) of women of childbearing age (a couple of fishermen) in the detection of cervical cancer through methods Inspection Visual Acetic Acid (IVA). This study used qualitative methods with in depth interview and phenomenological approach. The techniques for taking samples is by purposive sampling with a sample of six people who have been doing the examination at the health center IVA Wonokerto I. The results show that the perception of WUS about cervical cancer is a disease that is very dangerous for a woman who is in infancy and attack on a married woman, prevention cervical cancer with a healthy way of life, marital relationship carefully, and faithful to their partners and keep clean, especially underwear, the treatment of cervical cancer can be treated in the hospital by a team of health problems experienced in conducting examinations IVA is a shame because examined were part of womanhood, and the factors that support the inspection IVA is their curiosity about health conditions, motivation of midwife, friends and family. To support the implementation of the inspection IVA in the community are expected to socialize about cervical cancer and its prevention by vaccination.
