A correct understanding of the fundamental elements in the Islamic studies vision is a pre-requisite for the development of it. This article begins by putting forward a conceptual understanding of the fundamental elements of knowledge which include the worldview and epistemology. The role of worldview and epistemology to construct the methodology also became the one of the topic. The article argues that due to differences in the Islamic studies vision to those of western, coupled with the epistemological and methodological framework in Islamic scholarships, the development of Islamic thought (and consequently policy prescriptions) differs. While internal logic, coherence and consistency are necessary conditions for scientific exposition, Islamic studies should be evaluated within its own framework and using its own criteria. However, in another side we cannot neglect the position of positive sciences in the process of developing Islamic studies.in_ID
