dc.description.abstract | Used cooking oil when consumed will cause some diseases to humans. However if the used cooking oil is discharged into the environment, it will pollute the surrounding environment. So that the used cooking oil can be reused, it needs purification process of used cooking oil by means of adsorption. Adsorption is a chemical reaction between adsorbent and adsorbate, in which the adsorbent is a solid or liquid adsorbate and adsorbate is an adsorbed solid, liquid or gas adsorption. One of the factors that influence the effectiveness of adsorption is the surface area of an adsorbent. So, we need adsrobent activation to increase the surface area. The activation method consists of three types: physical, chemical and physical-chemical activation which will produce different zeolite surface area for each activation method. This study aims to determine the comparison of the activation method to the natural zeolite adsorption capacity on used cooking oil and to obtain optimal condition on the adsorption process of used cooking oil. The first step in this research is activating natural zeolite physically, chemically and physical-chemically, after that testing the adsorption of used cooking oil using that natural zeolite. The optimal condition obtained in this study was when the adsorption process using natural zeolite which is activated physical-chemically and on adsorption temperature ± 110 OC, adsorption time 150 minutes with free fatty acid value of 0.2304% and the rate of sapling 217,5745 mg KOH / gr . | in_ID |
