SISTEM PENGENDALIAN BANJIR KALI JUANA
Abstract
River Juana is bifurcation of River Serang through Wilalung Flood Gate. This river is the only drainage channel
from Juana Plain to Java Ocean. Some areas are flooded by River Juana annually. The biggest flood was happened in
2002 with 11600 hectare flood area, in which 3600 hectare of flood area was inundated for 2 – 3 months. This study
objectives are to find the source of flood in R. Juana using previous study review, design flood analysis, spill on Wilalung
Flood Gate, and hydraulic condition of River Juana; and also to find appropriate flood control system to be implemented
in River Juana. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that the flood in R. Juana was caused dominantly by high
rainfall intensity, the area condition that placed in low contour, low river gradient, high sedimentation rate in the river,
high flood in R. Juana river branches (1542 m3/s for 2 year return period) that exceeded the R.Juana capacity (90 m3/s,
Seluna Project, 2003), narrow tributary due to ships stopping, and high spill from Wilalung Flood Gate. In addition, the
most appropriate flood control systems are implementing river normalization, constructing embankment and flood
retention pond.
