METHOD OF CALCULATIONS FOR THE DEFLECTIONS, MOMENTS AND SHEARS ON CAKAR AYAM SYSTEM TO DESIGN CONCRETE ROAD PAVEMENTS
Abstract
For road pavements, a Modified Cakar Ayam System that consists of thin concrete slab supported by rows of short pipes is appropriate to be constructed on difficult subgrade, such as soft soil and expansive soil. Until now, several design methods have been proposed, using modified beam elastic foundation method and finite element method. This paper presents results of analysis on a section of Modified Cakar Ayam System consisted of three rows of “cakar” with the dimension of slab 7,5 m x 2,5 m. Analysis were done by using finite element method (SAP 2000). The deflections, moments and shears produced by 1 tons (10 kN) point load acting on center and edge of the slab of Cakar Ayam System were calculated and are presented in the form of graphs and tables.
