REPRESENTASI ASIMILASI ETNIS CINA KE DALAM BUDAYA PADANG

Abstract

Assimilation had become a major issue in Chinese ethnic’s searching for identity for years. Fusing their original culture to the Indonesian diversity culture, Chinese ethnic hope that their existence can be equalizing with others local people. The effort to gain that culture assimilation greatly depicted in the television movie “Jangan Panggil Aku Cina” (= Don’t Call Me Chinese). Communication semiotic method is used to identify the meaning of symbols representation about the booster and barrier factors of Chinese Assimilation to Indonesian Culture; Padang Culture.
