PENGGUNAAN CARBON FIBER REINFORCED PLATE SEBAGAI BAHAN KOMPOSIT EKSTERNAL PADA STRUKTUR BALOK BETON BERTULANG
Abstract
The flexural strengthening of reinforced concrete beam can be considered with applied externally bonded steel plate
or carbon fiber composite. This external plate is bonded to the tension face of the concrete beam. Experimental study on
reinforced concrete strengthening with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plate (CFRP) has been conducted to estimate the
effectiveness of using CFRP on the concrete structure as flexural strengthening material and external reinforcement.
Two beams were provided in this study to test the flexural strengthening effect of externally bonded CFRP composite.
One of them was used for normal condition (BT). The other specimen is the reinforced concrete beam with single steel
reinforcement and laminated CFRP (BTF). On the second beam, CFRP laminated on the bottom of beam with epoxy.
Dimension of the beams are 150/250 mm with effective length 1900 mm. All beams were tested using two-point loading to
get pure bending in the middle span. The result of the experimental research showed that the ultimate load of the beam
with externally bonded CFRP( BTF) is 49% higher than BT; stiffness of the strengthened beam BTF is 68% higher than
BT; and cracking moment of the strengthened beam BTF is 50% higher than BT. However, the deformation and ductility
of the strengthened beam BTF is lower than BT 77.6% and 73% respectively.. The failure phenomenon of the concrete
beam with laminated CFRP is prior debonding CFRP that makes maximum performance of the CFRP not be reached.
