dc.description.abstract | Indonesia located in tropical area is one of the biggest sugar cane producer country in the
world. Land as wide as 373.816 ha in the year 2005 can yield sugar cane 84,91 ton/ha. Processing
overall of the sugar cane becomes sugar is yielded by 90 % bagasse. Exploiting of bagasse yielded that
there are still limited as foodder, fertilizer making feedstock, pulp and fuel boiler in sugar mill causing
through this research exploiting of sugar cane fiber with technological approach strived to increase
usage value. This research aim to know comparison influence of resin type at sugar cane fiber
composite Chopped strand mat with matrik polyester type 108, 157,and 2250, to tensile and bending
strength.
First step to execute this research is literature study or handbook and journal related to
principal problems which will be applied as component of study and guidance in production process,
and its assaying and analysis. The next step is preparation of material and specimen making. At part of
this step done is processing preparation of sugar cane fiber with length 50 mm, matrik resin Polyester
type 108, 157, 2250 with attachment of catalyst 1 %, molding and pressure then is done printing
process with hand lay up method for making of specimen tensile and bending test.
Result of this research indicates that assaying of micro structural of composite specimen still
finding void (air void). Tensile strength and the highest modulus of elasticity got at sugar cane fiber
composite by using resin type polyester 2250, that is 2013 MPa and 12076,07 MPa. Strength of highest
bending there is at resin type sugar cane fiber composite polyester 2250 that is 36,43 MPa. Macro
