| dc.description.abstract | Perumahan Nilasari (Nilasari Housing), Gonilan, Kartasura was built in
around 1982 with three house types which are 36/100, 45/120, and 70/150.
Nowadays the condition of the housing is very much different with day it was built.
The pattern of the housing transformed organically into bigger an more complex
function. Along with the increase of its populations most of the land is covered with
building so that the quality of the housing and environment is decreasing. The
decreasing of housing and environment quality are related to open and solid ratio,
building height, lighting, air quality, and public infrastructure.
Observation chosed 22 house with poor condition as the samples.
Identification of housing condition has been done in order to find some data such as
ownership, house type, and construction type. Among 22 houses, 11 houses (50%)
are in vey bad condition used for boarding houses, 6 houses (27%) are vacant, and
only 5 houses (23%) in fine condition used by the owners. Total proportion of the
poor house is 77% predominated by vacant and boarding house function. The
improvement proposal consist of three steps, shortterm, midterm, and longterm
related with the degradation of building materials. Redesigning windows and
openings of the housing can improve natural lighting and air quality.
A proper approach to the community is important to improve community’s
awareness of their environment. The community will be invited to have focus group
discussion in order to formulize a coherent vision, mission, and strategy to improve
the environment independently. There is a need to enlarge the dialog into larger
scale since that environment quality is community responsible. The final target is to
form a community group as a media for the community to communicate their idea
and effort to improve housing and environment of Nilasari Housing. | en_US |
