APPLICATION OF MARSHALL APPARATUS TO ANALYSE THE INFLUENCE OF TEMPERATURE ON ELASTICITY MODULUS OF ASPHALT CONCRETE
Abstract
Nowadays, the modulus of elasticity has been used to determine the layer coefficient of road
pavement. However in the construction of road asphalt pavement, the control of the strength of
asphalt concrete is still using Marshall‟s stability value, so it is not appropriate with the principle of
pavement design. Considering that the Indonesian laboratories of road still rarely have Marshall
Apparatus, it will be interest to research the elasticity modulus of asphalt concrete at various
temperatures by using Marshall apparatus. The procedure of the elasticity modulus test using
Marshall apparatus was done by observe the stability gradually carried out for every 0.5 mm of flow
addition. The stress is gained by dividing the stability with the area of compression surface while the
strains is gained by dividing the flow with the diameter of specimen. The modulus of elasticity of
the asphalt concrete is the gradient of the straight line of relation between stress and strain. The
research shows that the value of modulus of elasticity of the Asphalt Concrete Wearing Course at
