Sandwich composite were produced. Ansaturated polyester matrix combined by plant fiber, industrial waste, and paper honeycomb
core. The connection method of sandwich composite is very important when it apply to construction such as window
panel, wall, roof, floor ect. Fastening method of sandwich composite are the objective of this study. This study get suitable
predrilling diagonal, minimum distance between two fastener, and critical distance to the end of composite.
Sandwich composite was made by hand lay up technique. Composite skin was made of laminated polyester strengthened by
banana stem fiber, agave sisalana wiberi leaf fiber, fly ash, and rice husk ash filler. Honeycomb core was made from buffalo
used paper. Honeycomb core was adhered between two skin(laminate). Fastener penetration to composite must no cracked or
damage. Fastening of composite use wood srew gauge #6( 3,51 mm), #8 (4,17 mm), and #10 (4,82mm). Predrilling work to
sandwich composite with 0 mm, 1,5 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 3,5 mm, 4 mm, dan 4,5 mm diameters of drill. Test of minimum distance
between two fastener worked on sandwich composite till to cracked. Test of critical distance of fastener hole to the end
of sandwich composite worked in this research. It was done to the end of composite until composite was cracked.
Fastener setting method is very specific. This method was begun to predrilling of sandwich composite. Diameter of predrilling
of fastener gauge, #6, #8, #10 were 3 mm, 4 mm, 4,5 mm. Minimal distance fastener to fastener were 6 mm, 8 mm, 10
mm for each gauge #6, #8, #10. Critical distance of fastener to end of composite for fastener gauge #6, #8, #10 were 6,3 mm,
6,7 mm, 7,7 mm. This take place on the rice husk ash filler sandwich composite.
