The Effect of Bolt Fitting at Front on Single Gear Connection Strength of Wood Roof Truss
Abstract
This study aimed to obtain the value of the water content, compressive strength, shear strength and
connection strength teeth. However, the main focus in this study is the connection gear, where to
determine the contribution of strength screws on the front line where the connection gear teeth are
cut 2/3.lmin insufficient because no Lmin. The research was conducted through four stages:
preparation and delivery of materials, manufacture and measurement phase of the test specimen, the
stage of implementation of the testing, and analysis of the results of the testing phase and then be
deduced. Water content of the specimen made 3 pieces. Compressive strength of wood made 3
pieces with a size of 50 mm x 50 mm x 200 mm. Shear strength test specimen 3 pieces with a size of
50 mm x 50 mm x 63 mm. Single tooth and multiple connections each made of 3 pieces that bolt to
cut 2/3.lmin reinforced and non reinforced bolt or normal. From the results, the average water
mahogany obtained in the study was 15.6%. The compressive strength mahogany theoretically by 25
N/mm

while the value of the average compressive strength of the test directly mahogany was 34.85
N/mm

. Mahogany shear strength of 4.5 N/mm
2
theoretically while the value of the average shear
strength in direct assays mahogany of 8.7 N/mm

. The results of the comparative strength of singletooth
connection that has not been cut and the cut after a decline of 12 kN or 26% reduction. The
results of the comparative strength of dental composite connection that has not been cut and the cut
after a decline of 31 kN or 67% reduction. So for the connection of a single gear is still better to use
a normal tooth connection or before the cut. As for the connection multiple teeth are cut and
reinforced bolts significant decline but still can be used as the front teeth are still strong connections
to the existing load bearing.
