Kajian Kinerja Pelayanan Pengelolaan Sampah Di Kota Karanganyar Ditinjau Dari Aspek Teknik Operasional
Abstract
Along with the growing number of population in Karanganganyar which is also followed by the increasing of both quality and quantity of people’s daily activities affects on the raising amount of waste in the town. The waste which is not properly managed will cause pollution toward the environment. The problems of waste in Karanganyar include the limited facilities and infrastructures which influence the range of service and cause irregularity in the process of storing, sorting and transporting; as well as the low participation of the people.
The objectives of the study are to identify the waste accumulation in the town and to find out the obstacles in the process of waste management; to identify the people’s perception toward the operational technique of service performance of waste management in Karanganyar; and also to propose design for the waste sorting form and its means of transportation. The method employed in the study is qualitative descriptive approach using frequency distribution analysis. The data collection is conducted by observation, questionnaire and interview. The sample technique used is Stratified Random sampling method employing 100 respondents. The technique is taken from Slovin formula.
The results of the study are: 1) The obstacles found in the waste management in Karanganyar, 2) The people’s perception toward the waste management performance in Karanganyar, 3) The realisation of design proposal for the efficient and effective waste container and transporting vehicle. The study suggests the need for additional resourches and the need to socialize the waste management using 3R system, and also the need for effective and efficient storing and transporting facilites for the waste.
