Strategi Media Relations Perguruan Tinggi di Surakarta (Studi di Univeritas Muhammadiyah Surakarta dan Universitas Sebelas Maret)
Abstract
In this study, researchers intend to compare the implementation of media
relations developed by UMS and UNS so that this research can be used as a
basis for the evaluation of the strategy that has been developed. The research
method used is descriptive qualitative with purposive sampling method to
choose respondent, and data collection was carried out with the observation and
interview. Research results show that, firstly, the information services given by
UMS is still very minimal. This causes the reporters feel less informed as to get
what they need. This is different with the UNS where information service goes
well even UNS posseses press room representative for reporters. Second, the
leadership of the UMS is never do road show activities to the mass media in
order to establish relationship with the media, while the UNS do the road show
activities on a periodic basis. Thirdly, the human resource side of public
relations UMS only supported by 3 staff people where only 1 person can be
maximum. Whereas in the UNS, public relations supported by sufficient staff
and involving representatives of each faculty.
