VISIBILITAS HILAL MINIMUM: STUDI KOMPARATIF ANTARA KRITERIA DEPAG RI DAN ASTRONOMI
Abstract
This study aims at comparing the criteria employed by the Department of
Religious Affairs, the International Conference of Istanbul, and Ilyas for determining
the first date of Ramadan and Shawwal of 1381 – 1418 H/1962–
1997 AD. The data-collecting method is documentation and the data-analyzing
technique is comparative. The outcome of the study is as follows: (1)
The Indonesia criteria for determining the first date of Ramadan based on the
visibility of new moon on the 29th of Sha’ban is 17 times, on the 30th of
Sha’ban (istimal) is 31 times; whereas for the first date of Shawwal is 17
times and 21 times respectively; (2) The Istanbul criteria for the first date of
Ramadan is 6 times and 17 times respectively, eight times rejected, and seven
times blank; whereas for the first date of Shawwal is 10 times, 20 times, 6
times, and twice; (3) The Ilyas Criteria for the first date of Ramadan is 5
times and 18 times respectively, eight times rejected and seven times blank,
whereas for the first date of Shawwal is three times and 17 times respectively,
11 times rejected, and seven times blank.
