dc.description.abstract | This study deals with the patterns of decision-making processes taken
by nurses and paramedics in a private hospital in Surakarta, Central Java.
The decision-making processes include the physical and psychological aspects
of the nurses and paramedics in helping the patients. The decisionmaking
represents high risk-taking processes as it deals with life-and-death
consequences, especially in emergency situation. The study is a qualitative
research. The data-collecting methods include observation and interview. The
outcome of the study shows that nurses and paramedics make their decisions
based on their experiences, including norms, educational background, and
expertise recommendation. The decision- making style is flexible and decisive. | en_US |
