dc.description.abstract | This study deals with the Javanese passive voice, which uses persons as
the agent in the sentences. Its aim is to reveal the rules of the syntactic, semantic,
and pragmatic. The study employs listening method and note-taking
technique in the collecting the data. The data-analyzing techniques include the
three dimensions of semiotics, namely syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic.
The outcome of the study is as follows: (1) the personal passive sentences
can be classified into three, namely: first, second, and third persons; (2) each
type of passive voice has five meanings, namely objective, causative, iterative,
benefactive and contradictive; and (3) the usage of passive voice is meant
either to highlight the object of the action or to emphasize the action itself. | en_US |
