PERILAKU POLITIK MUHAMMADIYAH DALAM RELASI DENGAN NEGARA PADA ERA REFORMASI

Abstract

This research aims at revealing the political paradigm of Muhammadiyah and describing the political behavior of Muihammadiyah during the administration of B. J. Habibie, Abdurrahman Wahid, and Megawati Soekarnoputri. This research is a social study employing the phenomenological approach and the descriptive-qualitative analysis The outcome of the study is as follows. First, Muhammadiyah has been applying the cultural paradigm, called Strategi Dakwah Kultural (cultural propagation strategy). Second, the political behavior of Muhammadiyah during the Habibie Administration tends to be accommodative and subordinate; the same is true during the administration of Abdurrahman Wahid. The true characteristics of its political behavior-- standard, co-operative, and critical--begin to be evident only during the administration of Megawati Soekarnoputri.
