Pengaruh Perbedaan Sumber Fly Ash terhadap Karakteristik Mekanik hiGh Volume Fly Ash Concrete yang Dibuat dengan Menggunakan Semen PPC
Abstract
This paper reports the investigation of mechanical properties of high volume fly ash concrete which
are produced using two different sources i.e. fly ash from Jepara Power plant and that from market
source. Particularly, this research focuses on the influence of using PPC (Pozzolanic Portland Cement)
cement in high volume fly ash concrete production on its compressive strength and water absorption.
The research departs from the question whether or not the compressive strength of high volume
fly ash concrete with PPC is similar to that with OPC. The experiment on normal concrete was
also conducted as a control mix. The result shows that fly ash from Jepara Power plant can be classified
as class C fly ash whereas fly ash from the market is only classified as pozolanic material. In
terms of compressive strength, the utilization of PPC cement makes the compressive strength of the
concrete lower than that of the design strength. Furthermore, the compressive strength is much lower
when the PPC is used in high volume fly ash concrete. Despite the strength, the use of high volume
fly ash concrete is beneficial in terms of water absorption.
